I can't believe it is day 11 already, only 1 more day left in The Twelve Makes of Christmas! I hope you have been enjoying them as much as I have. Speaking of which, today's tutorial is for Peppermint Hot Chocolate. Do I not have the best job ever?
Ingredients
3-4 teaspoons of hot chocolate powder (I used Cadburys)
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
Pinch of salt
1/2 cup water
1 and 1/2 cups of milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 peppermint candy canes
Into a small saucepan add the water, hot chocolate powder, cinnamon, and salt and warm over a medium heat for 5 minutes until everything is combined.
With a wooden spoon or rolling pin, crush one of the candy canes into a fine powder and add to the saucepan. Stir until dissolved.
Pour in the milk and reduce the heat to a simmer for 5 minutes. Add the vanilla extract. Whisk the hot chocolate until frothy.
Pour into a festive mug, add the other candy cane and enjoy!
Among all the craziness that the run up to Christmas can bring - the shopping, the wrapping, the cooking etc it is important to take some time out for yourself and enjoy a little treat.
But now....it's back to work for me.
See you again tomorrow for the last day in The Twelve Makes of Christmas. You can see the rest here:
Take care
Ciara
