Mixed Media Canvas: Awaken

Hi everyone!

Oh how I love Saturdays! Today I spent most of the day creating this mixed media canvas entitled "Awaken" and I had a lot of fun while doing it.

I started off by applying gesso to my canvas followed by torn old book pages and scrapbooking paper - I used some sheets from the Mariposa stack by DCWV.

I then painted over it using acrylic paints, stamped using various background stamps with Staz On ink and I also stamped with some home made stamps.

I also used some rub-ons and product called Sticky Motifs which I bought in a discount shop called "Mr. Price" while I was visiting home during the summer so for my non-Irish readers I apologise but I couldn't even begin to tell you the name of the company that makes them or where you could go about getting them (besides Mr.Price that is) but no doubt there are similar products out there.  I loved these things though! They basically work the same as a rub-on but in an adhesive form so they can then be covered in stuff like glitter, craft foil, tissue etc.  I used gold craft foil with the Sticky Motifs in this project.

To finish I added some butterflies which I double clear embossed and the lettering which I positioned on the left hand side of the canvas.
