Mixed Media Canvas: Three

My latest project is this mixed media canvas entitled "Three"

I created this piece by adhering knick-knack, scraps and random findings to the canvas using a variety of glues (mainly hot glue), coating it several times in gesso and then painting it with acrylic paints.

I used material that I already had in my stash and other objects that I found around the house, I did not purchase any materials especially to make this project and my inspiration came from making something out of nothing, creating something beautiful from what you have to work with, making the best of a "bad" situation as it were.

The whole process took about 3-4 hours to complete from start to finish. The finished result is heavy, gritty to the touch and extremely textured.  It certainly is a feast for the eyes! It is easy to get lost in this piece searching for something you haven't seen before.  I did not gloss this piece as I liked its matt and grit effect. I did however buff some of the raised edges with a metallic brown acrylic paint using my finger to make them pop a little.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you think.
